St. Andrew’s is a church steeped in tradition and vibrant with new life. Our worship includes extensive readings from the Bible and follows the liturgies in the Book of Common Prayer. Our youth and adult formation classes (aka “Sunday School”) are built around deepening our relationship with Jesus Christ through Scripture and a deep understanding of the basics of our faith. Music is a key part of our worship and fellowship, and our 9 AM Jazz service is led by some of the most acclaimed musicians in Omaha. At the 10:30 AM worship service our organist and choir continue the Anglican tradition of hymns, service music, and choral anthems. Our bell choir and children’s choir frequently contribute to the beauty of our worship, too. Our parishioners value the warm inclusivity and welcoming spirit of St. Andrew’s and the variety of services that are on offer. There are study, fellowship, and outreach groups for all ages and interests. There is a strong sense of community at St. Andrew’s Parish. We are not just a neighborhood church but draw from all parts of the metro Omaha area. Inspired by love, the congregation members are very generous in giving the time, talent, and treasure that each can uniquely offer. St. Andrew’s is fiscally sound and has a very strong lay ministry. Our active outreach ministry supports several local, national, and international organizations with both financial and hands-on contributions.
Gracious God, who called the Apostle Andrew to follow Jesus; give each of us at St. Andrew’s parish the same grace to follow Jesus without delay. Through our worship, work and daily lives may we bring others into your gracious presence. Grant that each of us be guided and directed by the Holy Spirit so that our lives will reflect your love in the world. Through Christ our Savior. Amen
We are on a journey, from birth to grave--fellow travelers working to stay afloat amid the sometimes calm and other times treacherous seas around us. We can't be journeying alone--we need each other's support and each other's skills. And we need more than ourselves: a sailboat does not travel by its own power--it must rely on the wind and the seas--just as we depend on God's grace and power and love. Like the sail in our logo, we are all marked in baptism with the Cross of Jesus, sealed for all time as God's own forgiven and beloved children. (The sail is a stylized St. Andrew's Cross, the emblem of our patron saint.) When the seas are rough, we may discover that we are carrying too much baggage, and we have to let go of some of it, throwing it overboard to lighten the load. We might even need help to lift it over the side of the boat and toss it away--another reason we don't travel alone. The boat in our logo is in motion, striving forward, using all the navigational tools at its disposal to stay on course. Our navigational tools are Scripture, prayer, meditation, and Christian Formation. Simple, graphic phrases and images have a power to capture our imaginations and stay with us...we hope our logo will capture your imagination and be an inspiring symbol of all that we are, and all that we hope to be, on our Christian journey together here at St. Andrew's.
