St. Andrew’s Day of Jazz is a free workshop for any Omaha-area high school students who would like to learn and improve jazz techniques, offered by local professional musicians.
The workshop will be held on Monday, October 14th, 2024, at St. Andrew’s church on 84th & Pacific from 12:00-4:30 PM (with free lunch from noon-12:30).

Areas covered include: intonation, articulation, time, blend, improvisation, rhythmic feel and various styles used in jazz. Activities of the day will include working with jazz ensembles, combos, sectionals and individuals. The instructors include Omaha music legend Joey Gulizia, UNO Professor of Music Theory and Composition Darren Pettit, and Omaha Performing Arts Jazz Academy Teaching Artist Shawn Bell.
There will also be a brief closing concert featuring the instructors at 4:00 PM (open to the public).
